God is Goood

One of the simplest and most powerful forms of contentment in our lives comes from a deep sense of the goodness of God. this is truly a strange thought in a world that wants to blame God for everything from the weather to war, famine & birth defects.  If He is genuinely as good as Jesus describes Him then we are in a quandary to explain the source of our pain & suffering. Yes, there is much we do not know or understand about the inequities of life and why they happen to innocents and good people, but playing the blame game is not helpful for those suffering nor does it provide any light going forward.  This conundrum is certainly not a new one nor am I trying to simplify a truly complex issue, but those who know a good and merciful God by experience are those who learn to rest in His goodness.  We are a culture of instant gratification that resists when someone says we have to learn something like contentment or experience His goodness even from a place of pain.

just some opening thoughts in my blog so feel free to respond in a thoughtful manner.  Thanx

About Rick McMichael

BA. Biola University, MDiv. Talbot school of theology many moons ago...really does not matter....school just provided tools to keep digging, asking, seeking, knocking. I see thinking as a daily excercise. Albert Einstein said, " I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious". I am no Einstein but my little brain still buzzes around at the speed of light :)
